- Multiple Options

The USC IBEAR MBA is a comprehensive one-year program designed with built-in flexibility.  The program curriculum can be tailored to your planned professional outcome. This includes the new STEM-track IBEAR MBA.

There are a myriad of ways to take these classes and meet the 56 unit graduation requirement. It all depends on your goals.

• Do you want to do an accelerated 12-month MBA schedule?
• Do you want to combine your MBA with a specialized Certification?

This document illustrates the flexibility of the IBEAR Curriculum. We will explore two possible schedule options to give you a basic understanding of how the program can be structured:

• 12-Month Classic With Flexibility
• 12-Month With Additional Personalization

Working directly with your IBEAR academic advisor to customize your MBA program will enable you to meet your goals with the highest possible outcomes.

No matter which of the options you choose,  you will need to take 56 units of required, core and elective courses in order to graduate.

The 12-Month Classic With Flexibility option offers an accelerated MBA program, which is designed for mid-career professionals seeking a comprehensive, full-time MBA experience.

Note: If a student wishes to combine this option with the STEM-track MBA, they may need to stay an extra 6 weeks after the IBEAR Graduation ceremony (end-June).

This may need to be done if they were not able to complete enough STEM electives during the
12-Month Classic With Flexibility schedule.

The 12-Month With Additional Personalization option provides maximum flexibility. Qualified students can waive up to 7 Core classes (21 units).

This option is ideal for those mid-career executives looking to combine their MBA with a Certification in such specializations as:
• Business Analytics
• Business of Entertainment
• Entrepreneurship
• Financial Analysis and Valuation
• Marketing
• Optimization & Supply Chain Management
• Technology Commercialization
• Etc.

This path is also well suited for STEM-track students.

Join Dr. Carl Voigt, Academic Director of the USC IBEAR MBA program explains this option:

12-Month With Additional Personalization

12-Month With Additional Personalization

The primary difference in this option, is students may waive out of Core courses and replace them with Marshall School of Business Extra Electives.

Built upon the 12-Month Classic With Flexibility schedule, this option starts with the IBEAR Core and Required classes consisting of 38 units (dark green and light green blocks).

Electives also follow the 12-Month Classic With Flexibility schedule with a total of 18 units. These electives are spread throughout the year (blue and yellow blocks).

WAIVEABLE COURSES

The pink blocks represent the 7 Core courses that students may challenge, and, if successful, subsequently waive:

PRE-FALL TERM 1
• Data Science for Business (3)
Note: No replacement courses offered in Pre-Fall. Students must take replacement course in either Fall or Summer semester

FALL SEMESTER TERM 2
• Accounting Concepts & Financial Reporting (3)
• Marketing Management (3)
• Microeconomics for Management (3)

FALL SEMESTER TERM 3
• Corporate Finance (3)
• Operations Management (3)
• The Firm in the National & Intl. Economy (3)

EXTRA ELECTIVES

Each of the Waived courses may be replaced with an Extra Elective offered through the Marshall School of Business (sea green blocks).

Students may waive from 1-7 courses.

12-Month With Additional Personalization allows students with advanced business skills to customize their IBEAR MBA program with a specialization. This approach provides the best opportunity to take extra classes that match student needs and interests.

TOTAL UNITS: 56

"Upon starting my IBEAR program I waived Marketing as I have a marketing background, and Microeconomics as I took this class in my undergraduate program. Instead, I took the Pricing Strategies and the Business Analytics classes.

Both classes offered a lot of valuable content, helped me to improve my quantitative and technical skills, and prepare for future job interviews.  I am happy that the IBEAR program offers a flexible curriculum that I can tailor to my needs and career aspirations."
